About the Position:

An exciting opportunity is available for a Sonographer to join the Radiology team at Lithgow hospital on a permanent full time basis. In this role you will provide high quality imaging that is patient focused, according to the objectives and policies of Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The Medical Radiation Scientist (MRS) is personally accountable for their work and professional conduct and shall adhere to The Guidelines for Professional Conduct for Radiographers and Radiation Therapists as issued by the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and as outlined in the Statement of Practice by Sonographers as issued by the Australian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine.

The MRS will demonstrate a high level of proficiency and knowledge in ultrasound through the proven ability to competently perform a range of complex and routine clinical procedures and will participate in the development and review of protocols and techniques utilising reports, CPD activities and publications to maintain a high level of expertise in the relevant area. They will participate in the CPD program for MRS’s and sonographers and other health professionals as well as completing mandatory performance development and training as prescribed by the LHD.

The MRS will participate and support quality improvement activities at section and departmental levels. They will assume the responsibility of safety of patients, visitors and staff in accordance to WH&S principles and NBMLHD policies. The MRS will initiate/assist with strategies to control and avoid hazards in the workplace as is responsible for maintaining infection control and a clean and tidy workplace.

Role requirements:

  • A degree or diploma in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent qualifications.
  • ASAR
  • Working With Children Check *state based
  • National Police Check
